Step One:

INMODE Forma-I Radiofrequency treatment (RF) uses Radio-Frequency energy to generate heat which is applied to the skin around the eyes. This heat stimulates collagen formation, bringing white blood cells, and stem cells to the skin around your eyes while reducing inflammation. The main benefits of RF are:

  • Safely heating meiboman glands for expressions

  • Tightening existing collagen at the dermal layer

  • Stimulating the production of NEW collagen in the deeper dermis

This treatment aids in opening up clogged meibomian glands, allowing for improved tear production and secretion.

Step Two:

Lumecca I_edited.png

Lumecca-I is an Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment involves flashes of light to the skin around the eyelids and face. Light gets absorbed by the mitochondria of the Meibomian Glands. This helps to switch on the Glands. They become ‘younger’ and more active. It has been shown to decrease demodex and bacteria around the eyelids. The powerful bursts of light also close off blood vessels that release inflammation in ocular rosacea. The Glands produce better Meibomian Oil and improve dry eyes. IPL also kills bacteria and Demodex on the surface of the eyelids.

IPL works to control the inflammatory process and to stop the vicious cycle of inflammation and to reduce the need for medications. IPL treats the root cause of Dry Eye Syndrome, ocular rosacea, and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), which is a leading cause of DES.

How does Envision by InMode work?

Envision by InMode uses radiofrequency (RF) to heat the meibomian glands, which are the glands that produce oil in the tears. This helps to clear the blockages in the glands and improve tear production. IPL is used to reduce inflammation in the eyes.

How long does the treatment take?

Each treatment takes about 30-40 minutes and is performed in our office by Dr. Oliver.

Whats the difference between Envision and other dry eye treatments?

Envision by InMode is a non-surgical treatment that uses radiofrequency and IPL to improve tear production and relieve symptoms. Other dry eye treatments, such as artificial tears and prescription eye drops, can also help to relieve symptoms, but they do not address the root cause of dry eye, which is meibomian gland dysfunction. Additionally, at Oak City Vision Center we use RF treatment prior to IPL treatment, unlike many other offices offering IPL in the Raleigh-Durham area. RF is a very importance component to ensure the most success. The best part? We do not charge extra for RF! That is how much we believe in the success of your dry eye treatment.

What is the success rate of Envision?

The success rate of Envision by InMode is high. Most people who have the treatment experience significant improvement in their dry eye symptoms. Dr. Oliver has not had a patient yet to not experience some type of relief, with 4/5 achieving a significant decrease in dry eye syndrome.

What are the pre-treatment requirements?

There are no specific pre-treatment requirements for Envision by InMode. However, your doctor may ask you to stop using certain facial/eye creams with chemicals such as glyceric or hyaloronic acid, medications such as aspirin/ibuprofen or antibiotics, before the treatment. We also recommend no botox or other facial skin procedures one week prior to treatment.

What are the post-treatment requirements?

Your doctor will give you specific post-treatment instructions; however, the most important post-treatment instruction is to avoid direct sun contact for 14 days and utilizing a mineral facial sunscreen daily while undergoing treatment.
